Prop firm drawdown calculator
TradeForge team · Last updated
A prop-firm account has two loss limits: a daily loss limit that resets each day, and a max loss limit for the whole account. This calculator shows how much you can still lose before each one, which you hit first, and the largest risk per trade that survives a run of losses. Pick a firm preset or enter your own rules.

How the limits are calculated
Daily loss floor = start-of-day value − daily % × (initial size, or the start-of-day value, depending on the firm). Firms differ on the start-of-day value: the balance, the equity, or the higher of the two. Your equity, including open trades, must stay above the floor until the daily reset.
Max loss floor = initial size × (1 − max %) when the limit is static. When it trails, the initial size is replaced by the highest balance reached, so the floor rises as the account grows.
The binding limit is the floor closer to your current equity. Example: on a 100,000 account with a 5% daily limit taken from a 102,000 start-of-day balance, the daily floor is 97,000. With a 10% static max loss the max floor is 90,000, so at 101,000 equity the daily limit binds with 4,000 left.
Firm rules used by the presets
Each rule comes from the firm's own website, on the date shown. Rules change: check your firm's current rules before you trade. TradeForge is not affiliated with any of these firms.
